This piece is still “under construction.” Som’s introductory narrative tells of his background as a former Special Forces officer who leaves the Army and becomes a popular local news reporter in Sandra Bay.
It will emerge later in the story that Som was turned into a Naga while on a mission in Thailand. A Naga in traditional Thai folklore is a water-dwelling serpent which can transform into a human being. A Naga has power to control rain, and this comes into play much throughout the series.
